Positive Impressions for Above and Beyond Service

Orlando’s customer service left a positive impression with a sales representative at a consumer products firm. Several parcels intended for export to South Africa were delivered to BDP International instead of the customer’s designated forwarder.

“I discovered that I had made an error in one of our international shipments. I thought you should know that your BDP Los Angeles-US warehouse manager, Orlando, showed the highest form of customer service to see that my mistake became a non-issue with our client in South Africa. The reaction of many companies would have been, “Not my problem”, but Orlando took immediate action. His response did not involve any “cash out of pocket” for BDP, but he took the time to make it happen. Our company is top rated for customer service in our industry and the above and beyond service that Orlando demonstrated probably would only occur at here on a “good” day.

I have been a Purchased Parts Planner here at this office furniture company for twenty five years. In my current position, I am the parts planner for about 100 different purchased parts from eight different suppliers in five different overseas countries. In my role, I supply these parts to 12 different manufacturing locations around the globe. I have a lot a responsibility to make sure that everyone in the company has parts when they need them. BDP is the partner that helps us make that happen. As you know, we bring in approximately 250 containers a year from these various locations.

Lori is my go-to person at BDP. I rely on her for on-going shipment information, whether it be routine updates on container movements, air freight shipments or expedited container requests. All this to say, I have a lot of experience in the area of customer service. Over the years I can say I have dealt with all kinds of people serving in the customer service role, some good, others, well…..

All this to say, Lori is the best customer service rep I have dealt with in my 25 years here! I have told you in previous notes, when you look up customer service in the dictionary, there should be a picture of Lori. Her dedication to excellence is proven in many ways.

  • Attention to detail
  • Follow up on requests
  • Keeping her customers updated on urgent requests. I can count on calls from Lori at night, on weekends or holidays. It doesn’t matter. She will always make sure I have the most up to date information.
  • Professionalism . No matter the request, she will always say” I’ll see what we can do” and get back to you.

I just wanted to take a minute to tell you how outstanding Lori is. We all too often complain when something isn’t right instead of giving credit when it is due.

“I would like to take this time to express my gratitude for Dan. I have recently taken on some additional duties which include getting raw materials to the manufacturing sites. We recently had a shipment that came into the New York port, and the shipment was overweight and included hazardous material. It was also needed at the manufacturing site ASAP to keep production running.

BDP responsibility was only as the broker. Dan has gone over above to help us get the material to the manufacturing site in timely manner.

In July, the European sector of a major chemical company shared two impressive BDP service testimonials using words such as “dedication, extra effort, exceptional support, and teamwork” to describe the Antwerp, BDP Belgium and European sector of their own company teams who contributed to the successful end-of-quarter sales push on behalf of a specific SBU.

“I want to thank you for your focus and dedication to CPP in the 2nd quarter. It was at times a little rough (vessels to Egypt, pallets in Bahrain, planes with cracked wings…..) but at the end of the day we managed to deliver almost everything and significantly supported our second quarter sales. This process of end of quarter focus is really working well and we need to maintain it. However it would be nothing without good teamwork and understanding of each party’s needs and constraints. Given that we are three different parties working with many various third parties we must never under estimate the team work and open communications we need to maintain. Tireless Customer Service

I would like to take this opportunity to bring your attention to some excellent work one of your employees has done for our company since 2009, especially on the recent shipments to HEL [Helsinki-Vantaa Airport - Helsinki, Finland]. All the team and Grace especially do the great job to coordinate all of our vendors in Asia region. The excellence is doing the “consolidation” for us, to combine all our shipments under one movement to save costs for us. This is really impressive as Grace might need to spend extra effort and time on coordination as well as operational processes.
