Advisories ::
BDP Air Transportation Advisory from Carrier Lufthansa

Lufthansa does not have a firm flight schedule, but is expecting to have normal weekly freighter operations beginning Tuesday, September 18th.

Please note that the following only applies to freighter operations, as the resumption of passenger flight freight capabilities is still unclear. Lufthansa anticipates very heavy flight loads initially, so in the best interests of fairness to all, have implemented the following guidelines:

1. All regular freighter allocations and current bookings for flights that will be operated will be honored at regular contract rates!

2. Any new bookings for tentative first flight (LH8251/18SEP01) must be made as td. Flash. No performance or Capacity Guarantees will apply for that flight.

3. For the second flight after resumption of regular freighter service (as of now expected to be LH8251/20SEP01) cargo will be accepted also at the Selling Rate Sheet (SRS) and Special Rate agreements (SRA). For this flight, bookings can be delivered earlier and can be advanced subject to availability.

4. Shipments will be accepted as of Friday, September 14, 2001 at 17:00 hours

5. Cargo priorities:

  • Current cargo on hand
  • GCAs, CPAs
  • Regular allocations
  • td.Flash
  • td.X
  • td.pro

6. UNBOOKED CARGO WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT THE DOOR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

7. No cargo from an 'unknown' shipper or damaged cargo will be accepted. 8. All airwaybills must have the following statement written in the handling information section: "FREIGHTER AIRCRAFT ONLY."

9. Dangerous Goods are on standby-by only.

10. Spot quotes are discontinued until further notice.

11. Saturday, 15SEP01: Account Service Center at 310-242-2575 will be opened from 08:00 to 18:00; Email: LAXGDASC@dlh.de

12. Sunday, 16SEP01: Our Account Service Center at 310-242-2511 will be opened from 08:00 to 14:00; Email: LAXGDASC@dlh.de

13. You may still book under 1000kgs shipments, no specials with the Customer Support Center at 1-877-LHCARGO; Email: lhcargo-us@dlh.de

The Canadian Authorities informed us, that - with immediate effect - flights to and from Canada can be operated again. However, this approval is valid for passenger flights only. The embargo for airfreight to/from Canada has been revoked in general. Please be aware, that the following freight is still excluded from transportation to and from Canada:

For example, transistor radios, radio-cassette players, CD players, laptops, electronic games (Gameboys, etc.), watches, hair-dryers, mobile phones, pagers, cameras, Mini-TVs, electronic shavers, musical keyboards, electric tooth brushes, battery operated toys).
  • There are certain limitations for Canadian mail. This is subject to confirmation, also details on weight limits.
The following is applicable for Canadian origin shipments:

Effective immediately LH Cargo accepts freight at all Canadian locations to worldwide destinations except Pakistan and Yemen. Timeframes and performance guarantee do not apply until further notice.
