BDP Air Transportation Advisory from Carrier Partner Continental Airlines
Sunday, September 16, 8:45 PM EDT
Effective today, September 16, 2001, Continental Airlines will resume cargo service domestically and internationally. There are however some restrictions when tendering cargo. Continental will not accept any cargo from what is considered an "UNKNOWN SHIPPER." Additional policy updates on the handling of cargo from unknown shippers will be forthcoming.
At this time, Continental is the first U.S. commercial carrier to announce its position on cargo transport. However, Continental has also reduced its flight schedules by 20%. American Airlines and Northwest Airlines have announced similar cutbacks on their flight schedules. The cargo transport positions of these two carriers had not been announced at the time of this advisory.
As we receive additional information, new updates will be issued.
