On October 19, American Airlines (AA) announced the implementation of a new handling process that will allow the transport of non-US origin freight and PPS to beyond gateway points. These processes will also enhance our ability to handle connecting interline shipments originating outside the United States.
Shipments Originating Outside the U. S., Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands
Effective immediately, shipments originating outside the US can now receive normal connection times for transport beyond the arrival gateway in the US. These procedures allow access to American Airlines entire network in Asia, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America and the US.
Security programs in each city may still require AA personnel to contact the original shipper of the goods being transported. Therefore, a list of contact names and phone numbers for each house air waybill may be required at time of tender. All shipments remain subject to additional security screening at any point in transit.
American Airlines can also now accept interline shipments from approved air carriers for booking beyond its arrival gateway in the US, thus providing global access for freight.
Shipments Originating Within the U. S., Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands
The present handling and acceptance of U.S. originating shipments are currently unchanged.
American Airlines is very pleased with these new developments and remains committed to leading the air cargo industry in safety, security and service quality. American Airlines will continue to provide additional information on procedural changes as they occur.
Thank you.
