Effective February 1, 2003, all steel imported into the U.S. will require a license.
This licensing requirement applies to all entries for consumption other than informal entries, which are limited to a value of $250 or less.
In conformance with the new trade rule, BDP International offices will be working to assure proper licensing for every steel shipment, prior to completion of the Customs import entry summary process. Any entry summary submitted without the appropriate license noted on the summary will be subject to liquidated damages.
As this program goes into effect, BDP offices will have an official license identification number and be prepared to handle all steel importation requirements under the new rule. For information or assistance, contact your local BDP import logistics representative or office.
