BDP Receives Class A Forwarder’s License in China

PHILADELPHIA, HONG KONG, June 3, 2004
BDP International® subsidiary, BDP Asia Pacific®, has been granted a Class A forwarder’s license for its newly formed, wholly owned foreign enterprise (WOFE) subsidiary, BDP Logistics Ltd.®, established in the Wai Gao Qiao Free Trade Zone in Shanghai, China.

The license allows BDP Asia Pacific and parent company, BDP International (BDP), to fully control and manage the logistics process within China through BDP Logistics Ltd., including cargo movements, invoicing and other activities that previously had to be outsourced to local parties. It also enables the companies to offer NVOCC, bonded warehousing and other Class A services. In addition, BDP Logistics Ltd. is a licensed NVOCC and has registered its bill of lading, which is recognized by banks throughout China for letters of credit and can be issued for shipments to and from the country.

“Now with a wholly owned subsidiary, BDP will be in a much better position to meet its customers’ logistics and supply chain needs within China,” said Peter Huels, managing director of BDP Asia Pacific. “We will maintain our existing offices and increase our staff, investment and focus in this growing and increasingly important market.”

Through BDP Asia Pacific, BDP International, a leading privately held U.S.-based global logistics and transportation services company, has been operating in China since 1996, with operations in Beijing, Dalian, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Qingdao, and developing an extensive network of strategic alliances throughout the country.

BDP Asia Pacific has regional headquarters in Hong Kong and Singapore, with 24 offices in 10 countries. In addition to China, the company has offices in Taipei, Taiwan; Kerteh, Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan, Penang, Malaysia; Bangkok and Phuket, Thailand; Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi and Calcutta, India; Jakarta, Indonesia; Melbourne and Sydney, Australia; and Dubai.

It offers live inventory status and shipment tracking throughout Asia and worldwide through its parent company’s network of subsidiaries, joint ventures and strategic alliances, as a complement to its core portfolio of international freight forwarding, customs clearance, transportation, warehousing, project logistics and lead logistics provider (LLP) services.
