China announces 2nd exclusion list for US products

And the trade wars, keep churning as China recently made an announcement regarding product exclusion. The Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council of PRC has released the 2nd exclusion from the first round of additional tariffs on 6 items of US chemical products.

These items include:

  • White oil
  • Food-grade petroleum wax
  • High-density polyethylene
  • Ethylene - propylene copolymer
  • Linear low-density polyethylene
  • Impact copolymer polypropylene

All items subject to specific descriptions and HTS codes in the exclusion list.

Please note, the exclusion list will be effective on December 26, 2019, and will be valid for one year, until December 25, 2020. Any additional tariffs which were already paid on this exclusion list cannot be refunded.

Meanwhile, China's government also announced that the remaining U.S. products subject to China's first round of additional tariffs will not be excluded for the time being. Next, the commission will continue to work on the exemption process, and release the exemption lists of U.S. goods subject to the second round of additional tariffs in due course.

Of course, we at BDP will continue to monitor the situation with the tariffs and exclusions, and will keep our customers apprised of any new developments.
