Main drivers in the supply chain

The last two years have brought about a unique array of challenges and driving factors that affect our day-to-day business operations. Today’s global environment demands that we, as a logistics company, adapt to the specific needs of our customers to fulfill their expectations. Something that was valid yesterday may no longer be valid, and therefore we as a service provider must change with the environment in order to remain competitive in the market.

We face daily risks that have a direct and negative impact on our business operations such as global insecurity; cybersecurity threats, natural disasters, the refugee crisis in Europe; political populism; terrorism; and increasing ethnic & territorial conflicts: Ukraine, Middle East, and Asia. Additionally, we have the uncertainty surrounding BREXIT, changing trade regulations, and ocean carrier mergers. It’s the responsibility of logistics providers to ensure there are no disruptions to our customers’ supply chains.

BDP considers the following drivers as a top priority to become market disruptors in our industry, and thus, we are ensuring to take action upfront to avoid any potential risks or issues for our customers:

Information technology: The growing complexity of supply chains requires increasingly advanced information technology solutions, like connectivity with customer and carriers, digitalization, and automation to provide clarity throughout the process. By implementing Document Management Systems in South Europe, we increase our team productivity, minimize human error, and allow our team to bring the value that our customer is seeking.

End-to-end visibility in the supply chain: Improving visibility within the walls of an enterprise and across its end-to-end supply chain is a top priority for 85 percent of global supply chain executives. Track and trace is becoming a commodity, and customers expect that their vendors provide them a clear scope of their operations including full visibility in their processes. BDP Italy provides a door-to-door cool chain airfreight service for the Pharma industry that includes an end-to-end visibility and traceability regarding the temperature of the product during the door-to-door transportation. The team in Italy even hosted an event for our customers where they simulated the trip of a refrigerated container!

Compliance: Anti-bribery and corruption and new legislation are having an increasing impact on supply chains.

We are proud to say that our teams are trained in strict accordance with our Corporate Policy and Values. Ethics matter, period.

Sustainability: Shippers will find themselves under the critical eye of government policies and customer pressure to have sustainability policies in place. BDP International has a team dedicated to our sustainability initiatives, and we have been recognized with industry accolades for our sustainability efforts.
