BDP International Completes ‘Together for Sustainability’ (TfS) Initiative

PHILADELPHIA (October 31, 2017) – BDP International (BDP), a leading privately owned global logistics and transportation solutions company, has completed the Together for Sustainability (TfS) global audit program to assess and improve sustainability practices within the supply chains of the chemical industry. The program’s objective is to create standards for sustainable supply chains, share assessments, raise awareness, make continuous improvements and promote best practices.

The TfS Initiative is an International Non-Profit Association founded in 2011 by six multinational chemical companies: BASF, Bayer, Evonik Industries, Henkel, Lanxess and Solvay to assess and improve sustainability sourcing practices, including ecological and social aspects. Since its inception, the initiative has steadily grown to include AkzoNobel, Arkema, Brenntag, Clariant, Covestro, DSM, DuPont, Eastman, Merck, SANOFI, Syngenta and Wacker. At present, 19 organizations are members of the program.

BDP’s participation in the TfS audit is part of the Philadelphia-based company’s longstanding commitment to facilitating transparency, efficiency, and regulatory compliance in all aspects of global supply operations.

“The ability to engage in Together for Sustainability’s audit program is an excellent opportunity for BDP,” said BDP Chairman and CEO Richard J. Bolte Jr. “In accordance with BDP’s ongoing pledge to ethical behavior and standard of excellence set forth in the chemical sector, we will work to meet the organization’s collective standard of utilizing sustainable, resilient supply chains in the chemical industry.”

The audit process includes a rating in five areas: management, environment, health and safety, labor and human rights, and governance. BDP passed the audit without any non-conformances. Results of the assessment are valid for three years and are shared with other TfS members – many of whom are current BDP customers – to streamline information and data sharing, harmonize requirements, and manage complexity and risk in global value chains for the benefit of stakeholders.

“The results of this assessment speak to BDP’s ongoing commitment to our sustainability program, highlight our values at work and demonstrate our continuous dedication to partnering with our customers to provide eco-friendly transport solutions,” said BDP Global Sustainability Manager Maureen Malia. “The guiding principles of the Together for Sustainability initiative directly align with BDP’s commitment to uphold and continuously improve standards for sustainable supply chains.”
