U.S. to remove India from GSP trade status

June 3, 2019 - In a press release Friday, the Trump administration announced it will end special trade treatment for India.

As of June 5th, India will be removed from the preferential trade program, known as the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), which gives developing countries easier access to the US market and lowers US duties on their exports. The tariffs will apply to "large residence" washing machines and solar cells and panels from India.

All system designations will be updated in ACE to make effective these changes.

BDP International is actively monitoring this situation to ensure we are supporting our customers with this change in regulation.
