US Customs temporarily suspends MSC's C-TPAT certification following seizure at Philadelphia port

June 21, 2019 - The US government has temporarily suspended Mediterranean Shipping Co. (MSC) from the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) program, the JOC reports. The suspension comes after more than 16 tons of cocaine were seized from containers shipped by the carrier to the Port of Philadelphia.

In an announcement released to customers, MSC commented on the suspension, assuring they have not been suspended from operating in the US market and the suspension does not prevent customers from doing business with MSC.

MSC further advised they anticipate minimal disruption for customers as a result of the suspension and they are actively working with authorities to restore their C-TPAT certification.

BDP International is actively monitoring the situation surrounding the suspension and will continue to keep customers apprised of any updates as we receive them. As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your local BDP representative.
